Melissa Gilbon Ferraro, Esq.

Attorney

For more than 26 years, Melissa Gilbon Ferraro has dedicated her career to advocating for individuals and helping people navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

About Melissa

Throughout her career as a trial attorney, she has represented individuals and institutions in complex civil and criminal matters, but her work has always been guided by the same core belief: every person deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and represented by an advocate who is committed to pursuing justice.

Earlier in her career, Melissa served as a prosecutor handling sensitive matters involving violence, sexual offenses, and vulnerable victims. That experience shaped her ability to navigate complex investigations, understand the impact of trauma, evaluate credibility, and advocate effectively for individuals whose voices deserve to be heard. It also reinforced her belief that seeking justice requires not only legal skills, but compassion, trust, and a deep understanding of each person’s experience.

In recent years, Melissa has focused her practice on representing survivors of childhood sexual abuse under New York’s Child Victims Act. This work has strengthened her commitment to trauma-informed advocacy and deepened her understanding of the challenges faced by individuals who have experienced abuse, harassment, or misconduct by someone in a position of power. She believes that effective advocacy begins with listening, creating a safe space for clients to share their stories, and pursuing accountability against those responsible for causing harm.

This passion has led Melissa to focus her practice on plaintiff-side employment law, where she has the opportunity to advocate for employees who have experienced sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other workplace misconduct. She believes that every person has the right to a workplace where they are treated with respect and dignity, and that employers and individuals in positions of authority must be held accountable when they abuse that trust. Melissa brings decades of litigation experience, a deep understanding of sensitive claims, and a commitment to standing beside clients throughout the process of seeking justice.

Melissa is drawn to plaintiff-side advocacy because it allows her to stand alongside individuals rather than institutions and to use her experience to help those facing powerful opponents. She believes effective advocacy requires more than legal knowledge. It requires listening, empathy, strategic thinking, and a commitment to understanding each client’s unique experience. Her goal is to ensure that clients feel supported, empowered, and confident that their voices matter.

A lifelong Hudson Valley resident, Melissa lives with her husband and their two daughters. Outside of her legal practice, she enjoys traveling, reading, exploring new hobbies, and continuing to learn through new experiences. Her curiosity and connection to others shape the perspective and empathy she brings to her work every day.

For Melissa, the practice of law has always been about people. Every client who places their trust in her is more than a case file—they are a person with a story, and she considers it both a

privilege and a responsibility to advocate for them with compassion, integrity, and determination.

Melissa has been recognized for her excellence in trial advocacy and was named to The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 in both 2025 and 2026.
