Laura A. Adame, Esquire, is an associate attorney at Megan K. Thomas Law, focused on sexual harassment and employment discrimination claims.
Laura has vast experience handling employment and labor claims in New York. Prior to teaming up with Megan Thomas, Laura practiced at a White, Rose, & Hilferty representing clients through different employment discrimination claims, including sexual harassment, gender, sex, age, and other discrimination faced in the workplace. Laura also contributed to the representation of survivors in litigation involving the Boy Scouts of America, supporting the team in handling individual claims arising from allegations of sexual abuse.
Laura began her career at a New York law firm representing local law enforcement unions, including the Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association (COBA) for Rikers Island, Rockland County (COBARC), and the Law Enforcement Employees Benevolent Association (LEEBA). She advised and represented these organizations and their members in a range of labor, disciplinary, and employment-related matters, and assisted in collective bargaining negotiations. In that role, she also represented union members facing misdemeanor charges throughout the five boroughs and Long Island.
In 2019, Laura earned her Juris Doctor from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, where she was an active member of Moot Court, Co-President of the Latin American Law School Association, participated in the Criminal Justice Clinic, and served as a translator for the Political Asylum Clinic. During this time, Laura met with Justice Sonia Sotomayor in a roundtable discussion. Laura interned for the Federal Defenders of Northern District of Texas during her first summer of law school and with Nassau County District Attorney’s Office the following summer. Before law school, Laura received her B.S. in Political Science from Texas Christian University.
When not drafting arguments or preparing cases, Laura can be found next to her latest book, at a local coffee shop or park. Notable favorites include: Rebecca, The Giver, and Invisible Monsters.
